About the Graduate School

The Graduate School looks after the educational and career needs of graduate students and early career researchers in the Faculties of Biology, Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and in their affiliated institutions. It is a virtual organization run by a strong network of people and committees. It is your graduate school!

The main activities of the Graduate School are:

  • promoting good practice in graduate education to constituent departments and institutes through a system of graduate education committees and representatives.
  • selecting the very best applicants from around the world
  • monitoring graduate student progress and making recommendation on degree results through the Degree Committees
  • providing a wide range of training in transferable and study skills for both graduates and post-docs
  • supporting post-doctoral workers in developing their careers
  • managing a number of studentships and programmes, funds and competitions
  • representing the University's graduate and post-doctoral educational and training interests in national and international fora.
